A new national database of private rented sector landlords and properties being established under the Renters' Rights Act 2025

PRS Database (Private Rented Sector Database or Property Portal) is a new national register of private landlords and rental properties being established under the Renters' Rights Act 2025, expected to launch in late 2026. All landlords must register themselves and each rental property, upload compliance documents, and keep information updated within 28 days. Tenants will be able to verify landlord registration and compliance status before renting.

Purpose of the Database

The PRS Database will:

What Will Be Recorded

Landlord information:

Landlord Requirements

Under the new system, landlords must:

  • Register themselves on the portal
  • Register each rental property

For Tenants

Tenants will be able to:

  • Verify landlord registration
  • Check property compliance status
  • See any enforcement history
